This home has a peaceful, natural, off grid feel with unlimited hot water and free Wi-Fi. A haven to practice yoga or meditation and just tune out.

There is a reverse osmosis water filter attached to the kitchen tap and also a similar filter attached to the shower head for chemical free bathing. Please note that there is no television at this property, however we do have a hard drive of movies TV shows and documentaries you are welcome to use. There is a great sound system, a record player and a bookshelf of art books. Adding to the vintage feel of the cottage is a great collection of vintage crockery and glassware.

The lake is spring fed and lovely to swim in for the adventurous types but please do not wear sunblock or wear any chemicals into the dam as the dam feeds our permaculture farm. There is nature all around and you will wake up to birds singing, Wallaby’s on the lawn and sun coming through the windows as the house is north facing getting sunshine from sunrise to sunset, not to mention clear moon rises and exceptional views of starry nights.

The main house has a combined living room dining and kitchen as well as the main bedroom and bathroom. The main pavilion does have air-conditioning for guests who don't cope with the Byron summer humidity. The second bedroom is a separate pavilion and does not have covered access or air-conditioning. There is a piano in the second bedroom and it opens onto a nice deck.

Please note again that this accommodation is RUSTIC, SIMPLE & BOHEMIAN Be aware that this is a hand built home constructed from recycled materials on the side of a beautiful lake. This property is recommended for those who love nature!

Please take note that our fire place is for winter warmth and whilst it does create a lovely ambience we are environmentally conscious and don’t like the fire being operated when it’s not necessary. Consequently, our fire is only in operation during winter months and from September 1 through to April 30 there are no fire facilities, if there is a cool night there are electric heating facilities.

Nestled under a stand of Norfolk Pines at the edge of the lake is our tiny house HOOP PINE CABIN. On request it may be possible to rent both properties but please be aware, our caretaker does come and go discreetly from this cottage.

Reviews

Our weekend at the Lakehouse was the perfect escape from city life. The lake and natural surrounds are stunning. We even saw an echidna! The record player, the outdoor bath, and the fireplace made for cozy nights-in.

A stunning cottage and location. So convenient to get to, but also a great getaway spot. Would give 6 stars if I could. Well stocked, furnished and an abundance of beautiful outlooks. The outdoor bath and watching the sun rise and set from the back deck were highlights. Thank you Destination Byron!

The Lake House is a rare gem. I loved how private it is with a beautiful garden and a stunning view of the lake. It feel like you are in a peaceful own little world miles away from civilization, but Byron Town is only 10 mins drive away. The bed is super comfy, very spacious bathroom and an old records player is very cool. There is a fan in the bedroom that kept us a cool at night but the rest of place gets very warm during the day. It was amazing seeing the star dust and the brightness of the stars from our own deck at night and hearing frogs and cicadas.

Best Airbnb I have ever stayed in! This house had everything I wanted, turn table, great vinyl selection, it’s own LAKE! Giant outdoor bath tub! Which I didn’t get to use (but gives me a perfect excuse to rebook) Close enough to all the good vibes in Byron but also tucked away nicely if you just want to escape the hustle and bustle.

We loved our stay at the Lake House. The setting is amazing - so peaceful, beautiful garden, really relaxing. The house is as described, so rustic, but with everything you need and the beds are incredibly comfortable, super pills and great hot shower. The veranda is a perfect spot for morning yoga and the location is great. Less than a 10 minute drive into Byron, but away from all the hustle and bustle. A real place to get away.

Katika, August 2018

Exactly as show in the pictures - tranquil and beautiful little home set in a perfect spot with great plants and a great feel. Close to Byron and super comfy beds - it’s the perfect spot to get away, play vinyls, sip red and sit by the fire. Bliss!

Our Take

I love making beautiful peaceful spaces that really bring similar qualities out in people. The beauty in this house is how much inside is outside -nature is doing most of the work!  At night there are so many stars its phenomenal how alive the sky is & if your lucky enough to be here when a full moon rises over the lake that is really special. I love that all the work we do to this farm is renewing the land and encouraging lots of native species to return & also call it home!
